Business Environment
In Indonesia, the demand for comprehensive healthcare services is growing rapidly, driven by population growth and rising living standards. Despite recent advances in healthcare digitalization, which have diversified service delivery systems, significant challenges remain in terms of both the quality and capacity of medical infrastructure.

Overview
Siloam, as a leading group of advanced medical institutions in Indonesia, has been working to meet growing healthcare needs in the country, and its market capitalization has more than tripled from the time of Marubeni’s initial investment. Since its equity participation in February 2020, Marubeni has actively contributed to enhancing the business value of Siloam through a variety of strategic initiatives. These efforts include leveraging its extensive network of Japanese and international medical institutions to support the introduction and expansion of advanced medical services, promoting breast cancer screening as part of its commitment to preventive medicine, and providing sales support for Japanese and foreign companies operating in Indonesia. Following this achievement, Marubeni has concluded a capital partnership with Siloam. Moving forward, as a business alliance partner, Marubeni intends to further strengthen its collaboration with Siloam. This includes exploring joint initiatives in hospital-related businesses, such as outsourcing services (including laboratory testing) and the establishment of specialized hospitals. In July 2023, Marubeni invested in “Alodokter”, one of Indonesia’s largest online medical services providers. Through these activities, Marubeni aims to contribute to the development of a sustainable healthcare ecosystem by leveraging both online and offline platforms to improve access to quality medical care.

Future Outlook
Marubeni has positioned pharmaceutical and healthcare service businesses as one of its next generation focus areas and has been expanding operations in numerous countries and regions. Moving forward, we will continue providing pharmaceuticals and new medical services needed in various countries and regions worldwide, striving to address healthcare challenges, promote health, and improve living standards.
