Our Strengths
Expanding the Value-up Functionality of Aircraft Assets in the Commercial Aircraft Sector
The division will contribute to the growth of the private aviation market by enhancing the value of aircraft assets through the aircraft and engine parts trading business and asset management business, as well as by providing lifecycle services to aircrafts and airlines, including engine development investment, engine maintenance dealership, airport ground handling, autonomous airport vehicles, and AI-powered ground handling optimization. In the business jet sector, Marubeni is making comprehensive efforts to drive the industry as a leading company, such as managing the U.S. Gulfstream Aerospace’s dealership business, offering business jet operation and management service through JAL Business Aviation, a joint venture with Japan Airlines, and establishing a new business jet maintenance service company, “JAMS,” in partnership with ShinMaywa Industries.

Marubeni has contributed to Japan’s national security through our sales agency business for aircraft, helicopters, engines, various defense equipment, composite materials, and satellite sensors. Marubeni is also making new entries into industries such as sales of satellite data, conducting capital and business alliances with companies such as Interstellar Technologies, a Japanese company that develops, manufactures, and offers launch services for small rockets, as well as Phase Four, a U.S.-based company that develops and manufactures thrusters for small satellites, which has a capital and business alliance with D-Orbit, an Italian company that provides launch arrangement and deployment services for small satellites. Marubeni is also working towards the commercialization of air mobility, which are expected to be a mode of transportation in the future.

Proactively Taking on Challenges in New Ship Related Businesses by Taking on Environmental Change as an Opportunity
We are taking the environmental changes surrounding the shipping and shipbuilding industries as opportunities to create new businesses. Our initiatives include GHG reduction, safe navigation, improvement of seafarers' living environments, and development of labor-saving and autonomous navigation technologies. Specifically, we are proactively pursuing new business opportunities by engaging in demonstration testing and sales support for a wind propulsion system installation project developed by bound4blue in Spain; joining a partnership alliance with Orca AI, which develops a situational awareness platform for vessels; joining a capital and business alliance with MarCoPay in the Philippines, which develops and operates electronic applications for ship crews; and participating in the autonomous ship project MEGURI2040 administrated by the Nippon Foundation.
