Marubeni Corporation (hereinafter, “Marubeni”) has acquired a 100% stake in ETVOS Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, “ETVOS”), a skincare and cosmetics brand in Japan (hereinafter, the “Acquisition”). Leveraging the Acquisition as a cornerstone, Marubeni will work to build a Beauty & Health business platform in Japan.
In Japan, the Beauty & Health market—including skincare, cosmetics, personal care, dietary foods, and supplements—is expanding amid rising consumer interest in beauty and wellness, and is expected to reach a market size of approximately 7 trillion yen.
Founded in 2007, ETVOS is a Japanese skincare and cosmetics brand designed to be gentle on the skin, making it suitable for people with sensitive skin. Its product lineup, including mineral-based cosmetics and skincare products formulated to minimize burden on the skin, has been widely supported by consumers and has been recognized through numerous awards, including selections for “best cosmetics” rankings in major magazines. In addition to its official online store, ETVOS operates multiple sales channels, including directly managed stores with dedicated beauty advisors and more than 700 retail locations nationwide (including partner retailers). Leveraging the strong competitiveness of its products, ETVOS has achieved steady growth.
Under its Mid-Term Management Strategy GC2027, Marubeni is focusing on Strategic Platform Businesses (businesses with “Growth Domains x High Added Value x Scalability”). The Next Generation Corporate Development Division aims to capture growth in high-potential consumer-related businesses through investments and M&A, with the aim of building businesses that will become new pillars of Marubeni by 2030. In April 2025, Marubeni established Marubeni Consumer Platform Japan, Inc. (hereinafter, “MCPJ”) to promote strategic investments in consumer businesses in the Japanese market, following similar initiatives in Southeast Asia and the United States. This Acquisition is the first investment by MCPJ. Going forward, Marubeni is committed to building a Beauty & Health business platform by acquiring growth brands that can benefit from and enhance ETVOS’s strengths in product development and multi-channel sales, as well as by undertaking acquisitions in adjacent fields.
