During the IPO, demand from the market exceeded expectations, with over 34.3 billion Philippine pesos (approximately 90 billion yen) raised. This is equivalent to approximately 30% of Maynilad’s shares, making it the second-largest IPO in Philippine history, and the largest IPO by a water utility company in Southeast Asia. Maynilad operates a water and wastewater services concession business serving approximately 10.5 million people primarily in the West Zone of Metro Manila in the Philippines, providing water, wastewater, and sanitation services. In addition to stable business operations, the company actively engages in large-scale capital investments aimed at improving the non-revenue water rate and increasing wastewater system coverage, striving to further enhance its services. Marubeni invested in Maynilad in 2013 and has contributed to the company’s growth by providing technical support and formulating strategies that leverage its worldwide expertise in the water business.

The IPO enabled Marubeni to recover its investment by partially listing its shares in Maynilad, which also contributed to accelerating investment recovery, one of the strategies in the company's Mid-Term Management Strategy, GC2027.

Marubeni is extensively developing its water business in Asia, the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, from BOO/BOT*2 of water treatment facilities as well as their operation and maintenance management to the operation of water supply and wastewater businesses. Going forward, Marubeni aims to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society through the provision of essential water supply services for people’s lives, while continuing to improve its business to enhance corporate value.

*1 As per the guidelines for certifying environmentally conscious companies formulated by the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission in 2025 with the aim of promoting sustainable investment.
