Selection of MM2100 Industrial Town for Global Eco-Industrial Parks Program in Indonesia

Marubeni Corporation (hereinafter, “Marubeni”) is pleased to announce PT. Megalopolis Manunggal Industrial Development, a joint venture company between Marubeni and Argo Manunggal Group that operates and manages MM2100 Industrial Town (hereinafter, “MM2100”) in Indonesia, Bekasi, has been selected for the Global Eco-Industrial Parks Program (hereinafter, “GEIPP”) which was initiated by the United Nations of Industrial Development Organizations (hereinafter, “UNIDO”) together with Indonesia Ministry of Industry.

In order to expand the Eco-Industrial Park *, a measure advocated for by UNIDO, GEIPP selects industrial parks that can be role models for that concept. The objective of this project is to contribute to a sustainable society by improving environmental, economic, and social performance for industrial parks. With the support of the Government of Switzerland, GEEIP is presently being implemented in seven countries (Peru, Colombia, Vietnam, Ukraine, Egypt, Indonesia and South Africa).

On October 23, 2020, the launch ceremony was held at a hotel in Jakarta with stakeholders such as UNIDO, Government of Switzerland, the Indonesia Ministry of Industry and other government officials.
This time, as the first designated Industrial park in Indonesia, MM2100 has been selected for GEIPP due to its highly regarded contribution to the Indonesian economy and local communities, and its management of environmental measures.
Under GEIPP, MM2100 will have demonstration programs aiming at reducing environmental impact, saving energy, and improving production / operation efficiency.

Marubeni develops, sells and operates industrial parks in Thailand, China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar, and India, and has a wealth of knowledge and achievements in this area. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the opening of MM2100, and since its opening, MM2100 has contributed to the overseas expansion of Japanese companies, the development of the Indonesian economy, the vitalization of local communities around the industrial park, and the job creation. Marubeni will continue to contribute to society through the industrial park business.
