Marubeni Corporation (hereinafter, “Marubeni”) has completed a strategic minority investment (hereinafter, the “investment”) in Win Chance Foods Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, “Win Chance Foods”), a company engaged in the manufacturing and sales of condiments and sauces in the Kingdom of Thailand (hereinafter, “Thailand”).

Win Chance Foods manufactures a wide variety of condiments and sauces, including Western flavors like ketchup and barbecue sauce, as well as Japanese and other Asian flavors. Their primary customers are major CPG companies and restaurant chains in Thailand and neighboring countries, with aims to expand sales in India. Win Chance Foods leverages their database of over 2,000 recipes to develop tailor-made products, including condiments reflecting consumer trends and ready-to-use sauces*. Furthermore, the company’s strengths include its high level of quality control and unique manufacturing technologies acquired through many years of operation, which enable flexible and stable small-batch production.

The condiment and sauce market in Southeast Asia and India is expected to grow at a CAGR of approximately 8% in the coming years, driven by rising incomes, urbanization, and lifestyle changes, which are expanding the overall food market. In addition, due to the spread of diverse food cultures and changes in consumer needs because of globalization, the food industry is becoming increasingly sophisticated and diversified. As a result, the demand for seasonings, which play a key role in flavor differentiation, is expected to continue to grow. By combining Win Chance Foods’ manufacturing strengths and Marubeni’s sales network, Marubeni aims to meet the growing demand for new flavors and enrich the diets of consumers.

In its Mid-Term Management Strategy (GC2027), Marubeni is focusing on Strategic Platform Businesses (businesses with “Growth Domains x High Added Value x Scalability”). This investment enables Marubeni to provide high value-added condiments tailored to customer needs in the growing markets of Southeast Asia and India. Through this investment, Marubeni aims to establish and strengthen a platform business of food ingredients that includes condiments and sauces, expand sales channels and capture domestic demand in Southeast Asia and India, and broaden its business scope to Japan and other markets around the world.
