Marubeni has a long history of selling machine tools manufactured by Citizen Machinery and Brother Industries, both of which boast world-class technologies and are highly recognized brands, in India and around the world. Marubeni will enhance its sales and after-sales service for machine tools by establishing the New Company to further expand its business in India while leveraging the knowledge it has cultivated to date.

Background and Significance
The Indian market for machine tools is currently the seventh largest in the world (approximately 420 billion yen).^*1 The “Make in India” policy of Indian Prime Minister Modi’s administration and the China Plus One strategy of companies operating in various countries have accelerated investment in India in a wide range of manufacturing industries, such as automobiles, medical, and aviation. It is one of the countries with the highest growth potential in the world on the back of active investment in the machine tools industry.

Future Outlook
In addition to the machine tool sales business, Marubeni has been expanding its sales business of electronic components and automotive parts to the Indian manufacturing industry, contributing to the development of the growing Indian manufacturing industry.
