Marubeni Corporation (hereinafter, “Marubeni”) is pleased to announce its investment in a residential real estate project (hereinafter, the “Project”) in Pune, Maharashtra, India, undertaken by Kolte-Patil Developers Ltd. (hereinafter, “KPDL”), a leading listed real estate developer based out of Maharashtra. Marubeni will participate in the Project by subscribing to non-convertible debentures issued by KPDL. This will be Marubeni’s fourth real estate project in India and third project with KPDL.

Pune is one of the leading cities in India with a population of 7 million people.*1 It has long flourished as a center of education and academia and has developed as a hub for the manufacturing and automobile industries. In recent years, due to the advent of various IT and other multi-national companies, Pune has been witnessing a rapid influx of workers from all over India. The major growth driver for Wagholi (where the Project is located) is attributable to its proximity to Kharadi (one of the IT hubs of Pune) with it consequently regarded as one of the most rapidly developing suburban residential areas of Pune.

Marubeni intends to leverage its expertise in the real estate development business to actively expand several related development businesses such as the social infrastructure development and the establishment of distribution channels and services rather than only focusing on real estate development businesses. Marubeni aims to develop the Indian real estate market as one of its core businesses among its overseas real estate development business.
