Investment in Wizleap inc, Provider of the Financial Consulting Service “Money Career”

Marubeni Corporation (hereinafter, “Marubeni”) has completed an investment in Wizleap Inc. (hereinafter, “Wizleap”) to make it an affiliated company accounted for by the equity-method, through a third-party allocation and the acquisition of shares from existing shareholders. Marubeni will thereby now enter the personal financial consulting services business by leveraging digital technology.
With a mission of “Supporting everyone’s money-related decision-making with the power of software,” Wizleap works to create truly reliable, secure, and credible comparison and consultation opportunities for all financial products, including life insurance and other banking and securities products. “Money Career,” a consultation service for life planning and asset building handles life insurance, non-life insurance, and small-amount short-term insurance from a total of 49 insurance companies to provide a business which matches customers with “money-related concerns” with financial planners* (hereinafter, “FP”) who advise and provide proposals from an impartial standpoint.
With the recent government announcement of the “Asset Income Doubling Plan”, demand for financial services for individuals is expected to grow as the importance of individual asset management increases. In addition, in the field of life insurance for individuals, while insurance companies used to sell products in person through their own sales staff, in recent years, sales through agents, who can offer tailor-made products through online consultation, have been increasing in response to the diversifying purchasing behavior of customers. In response to these changes in the social environment and sales channels, demand for FP providing services from an impartial standpoint is increasing.
Many clients meanwhile still do not have access to FP, and FP also face the challenge of spending too much time building contacts with clients and not enough time providing consulting services and essential value by utilizing their expertise. Wizleap’s service has partnered with approximately 3,000 FP to solve these societal and industry challenges, providing online consultations and other matching opportunities to a cumulative total of 80,000 clients.
Marubeni will support Wizleap in attracting more customers by leveraging its extensive experience and network in the insurance field, including the non-life insurance intermediary business for domestic companies, cross-border reinsurance intermediary business, and reinsurance underwriting business. In addition, we will provide Wizleap with the know-how to build the management system necessary to operate the business as it grows. We will moreover contribute to solving “money-related concerns” by aiming to expand the universal service business for individuals with a financial starting point by leveraging the Marubeni Group’s network.
* Specialists who provide individuals with advice on asset management, and related issues utilizing their wide-ranging expertise in money matters such as finance, taxation, real estate, housing loans, insurance, education funds, pension plans.
