Launch of the “GOVAN” Charging Management Service for Commercial EVs

Jul. 19, 2023
Marubeni Corporation

Marubeni Corporation (hereinafter, “Marubeni”) has commenced provision of the Grid Optimization & Vehicle Authorization Network (GOVAN) charging management service. The GOVAN service uses AC chargers and is aimed at fleet owners with commercial electric vehicle (EV) holdings and operations. For its first project, commercial operations of the GOVAN service were deployed at Green Co-op Fukuoka, one of the 16 affiliated co-ops of the Green Co-op Community, based in Western Japan (namely the southwestern half of Honshu, and all of Shikoku, Kyushu, and Okinawa). In addition, Marubeni Automotive Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Marubeni, has sold commercial EVs manufactured by Folofly Inc.

GOVAN is a total support service providing comprehensive solutions for EV charging management to customers, from initial consultations on adoption of commercial EV charging systems to daily operations.

As part of the introductory consultation, Marubeni offers support to reduce costs of EV use by proposing the optimal number of chargers for the number of vehicle holdings, as well as making suggestions on installation layout, equipment selection, and charging schedules based on electricity usage amounts.

GOVAN enables flexible operations while alleviating concerns about parking locations, as chargers automatically recognize vehicles, with a charging schedule then applied and executed for each vehicle.

Marubeni is aspiring to become a “Forerunner in Green Business” in the current Mid-Term Management Strategy “GC2024.” Through GOVAN, Marubeni will promote the electrification of commercial vehicle fleets and contribute to the realization of a decarbonized and sustainable society.
