Dec. 06, 2023Marubeni Corporation
Marubeni Corporation (hereinafter, “Marubeni”) has concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (hereinafter, “MOU”) with SYSTEX Corporation (hereinafter, “SYSTEX”), the largest IT services provider in Taiwan; uniXecure Technology Corporation (hereinafter, “uniXecure”), a SYSTEX subsidiary in the cybersecurity sector; and CyberGym Japan Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, “CyberGym Japan”), on joint business development and sales collaboration in the field of Operational Technology (OT)* security for critical infrastructure and manufacturing in Taiwan.
OT systems are used for the control and operation of facility and equipment in critical infrastructure such as power plants, as well as in manufacturing industry factories and plants. These systems have traditionally been operated on internal networks and been isolated from the internet. However, in recent years, there has been a shift towards connecting these systems to the internet to leverage operational data and create new added value, accompanying the widespread adoption of IoT and factory automation. This shift to internet-based systems has accordingly introduced new sources of security risks.
SYSTEX, has established itself as a key industry player and leading IT service provider in the digitally advanced nation of Taiwan, with over 4,000 highly skilled professionals and a diverse clientele of over 30,000 companies, including major financial institutions, manufacturing industries, and domestic government agencies. In 2022, SYSTEX furthermore expanded its focus on the security business with the establishment of uniXecure.
Through this MOU, Marubeni will contribute to solving OT security issues faced by clients in Taiwan by combining Marubeni’s critical infrastructure and other networks in the country with SYSTEX and uniXecure's local expert personnel and customer networks, as well as CyberGym Japan’s OT security know-how and services, thereby contributing to stable operations of critical infrastructure and manufacturing industries.
