New Policy for Promoting Female Empowerment at Work

Aug. 12, 2022
Marubeni Corporation

Marubeni Corporation (hereinafter, “Marubeni”) has established “Female Empowerment at Work 2.0” as our new policy.

In addition to the various initiatives(*) taken to create an environment where female employees can continue thriving at work, “Female Empowerment at Work 2.0” aims to create an environment where women are more deeply involved in corporate management and business decisions making at Marubeni. Also, we will focus further on “expanding the talent pipeline” to enhance growth opportunities for women and strengthen their career paths towards positions that involve decision making.

Female Empowerment at Work 2.0

(*)Initiatives taken thus far to create an environment where female employees can continue thriving at work:
・Since 2005, we have developed and expanded childbirth and childcare support measures that go beyond corporate legal requirements, such as ”Family Support Leave”, “Shorter Working Hours,” and “Flexible Childcare Leave.”
・In 2017, we shifted from “supporting a balance of work and child/nursing care” to “supporting an active working style,” including childcare support allowances to encourage employees to return to work sooner, support measures for employees seconded overseas with only their children, and the introduction of femtech services to address specific health issues for women.
・In December 2020, we decided that we would increase the ratio of female new graduates hired for career-track positions from the current 20-30% to 40-50% within three years (by April 1, 2024). (As of April 2022, the ratio of female new graduates hired for career-track positions was approximately 40%.)
