Marubeni Corporation (“Marubeni”), Marubeni Forest LinX Co., Ltd. (“Marubeni Forest LinX”), Marubeni Paper Recycle Co., Ltd. (“Marubeni Paper Recycle”), and Koa Kogyo Co., Ltd. (“Koa Kogyo”) will start offering paper products that have been upcycled through the closed recycling(*1) of used corrugated containers collected at office buildings in the Marunouchi area through the “MARUNOUCHI TO GO Project,” a food loss reduction project hosted by Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd., from April 21, 2022.
First, Marubeni Paper Recycle will collect used corrugated containers. Koa Kogyo will then produce 100% recycled paper from these containers by using them as raw materials. Marubeni Forest LinX will then process the recycled paper into paper bags and flyers while ensuring traceability(*2).The paper bags, which are environmentally friendly paper products under FSC®Certification(*3), will be used by customers to bring home portions of dishes they could not finish eating at restaurants in the Otemachi, Marunouchi, and Yurakucho areas that participate in MARUNOUCHI TO GO Project.
Marubeni, Marubeni Forest LinX, Marubeni Paper Recycle, and Koa Kogyo are familiar with transforming used corrugated containers and other waste paper materials into products that suit various needs (paper bags, envelopes, delivery bags, paper towels, cardboard fixtures, printing paper, etc.) to encourage consumers to take an interest in a circular economy. We will continue to contribute to creating a recycling-oriented society by leveraging the strengths of the Group to build a sustainable recycling scheme for waste paper.
