Marubeni Corporation (hereinafter, “Marubeni”) is pleased to announce that the installation work has been completed, and operation and monitoring services for Mae Moh Thermal Power Plant Unit 11 and 13 owned by Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand commenced in March 2021.
This demonstration project has been conducted by Marubeni through a strategic project formulation study and a pre-demonstration study under the "Private Sector-Led Low-Carbon Technology Promotion Project", which has been implemented by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) since 2018.
This demonstration project aims to improve power generation efficiency and reliability through AI and big data analysis developed by Marubeni and other solution providers based on real-time power plant operational data. The effectiveness of these solutions will be evaluated over a two-year operation and monitoring service period. In addition, this project aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in both Japan and Thailand by utilizing the Joint Credit Mechanism*.
Marubeni will continue to contribute to the digital transformation and greenhouse gas reduction of power plants by leveraging the IoT solutions demonstrated in this project.
* Joint Credit Mechanism: The JCM is a system to cooperate with developing countries for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, in which the result of a reduction is assessed as a contribution by both partner countries and Japan.
