Announcement concerning acquisition of corrugated box plant in Malaysia

Marubeni Corporation (“Marubeni”) announces that it has concluded an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares of Malaysian corrugated box plant, Dazun Paper Industrial Company Sdn. Bhd. (“Dazun”) through GS Paper & Packaging Sdn Bhd (“GSPP”, held by Marubeni 25%, and Oji Holdings Corporation (“Oji”) 75%) along with HPI Resources Bhd., a Malaysian subsidiary of Oji. After this acquisition, the share of Dazun is held by GSPP 50%, and HPI 50%.

 

Through this acquisition and its ongoing participation in the Selangor plant of GSPP, Marubeni plans to strengthen its business platform in the central region of Malaysia which is the largest domestic consuming market of corrugated container products.

 

Marubeni owns a stable production base of packaging businesses in Malaysia, India and Myanmar along with Oji. Going forward, Marubeni plans to expand its packaging business in Asia by utilizing these business assets.
