Marubeni Corporation (President: Fumiya Kokubu, Head Office: Tokyo, Japan, “Marubeni”) and Seafresh Industry Public Company Limited (President: Narit Chia-apar, Head Office: Bangkok, Thailand, “SFI”) signed a Memorandum of Understanding for selling SFI’s shrimp products through Marubeni’s global sales network on April 24, 2013. As part of the Memorandum the parties plan to consider the possibility of mutual investment.

SFI produces 20,000mt of shrimp products per annum at their factory in Chumphon, Thailand. All of their shrimp products are 100% traceable under their factory and farm management based on good ethical management and environmentally-friendly criterion. Marubeni has entered into the multilateral trading of processed marine products and in 2012 completed the acquisition of Welmar Europe B.V., a distributor of processed marine products in Western Europe.

Marubeni is appointed as an exclusive distributor of SFI’s sushi products for the Japanese market, and will start to handle SFI’s various shrimp products for major consumer markets such as Japan, EU, and North America through Marubeni’s global sales network for expanding SFI’s shrimp sales.
