Powering Sustainable Growth in the Philippines and Beyond
Marubeni started its power business as supplier of parts to major power plants in Luzon and shifted into EPC business constructing power plants of over 1,600MW capacity in Luzon and 100MW in Mindanao. With the advent of EPIRA, Marubeni expanded its portfolio as an IPP bringing into the Philippine power industry international partners with technical expertise in power plant O&M.
Marubeni stands as one of the largest IPP’s in the Philippines, with over 1,000MW of installed generating capacity across various projects. Notable among these are the San Roque Multi-Purpose Hydro Plant, and Pagbilao Coal-Fired Power Station, which contribute significantly to the nation’s energy infrastructure.
In the power distribution sector, Marubeni collaborates with its partners to distribute power in New Clark City, a rising urban development project located north of Manila designed to be the City of the Future. Moreover, Marubeni has ventured into ancillary services, reinforcing the national grid’s stability and reliability with over 240 MW of installed capacity.
Leading the Initiative Towards Sustainable Energy Solutions
Embracing sustainability, Marubeni is actively engaged in developing solar power plants or in its Retail Electricity Supplier (RES) business through TeaM Energy, its subsidiary having been engaged in the Energy Supply business since 2001. Geared to promote green energy initiatives, Marubeni through TeaM Energy has been actively involved in rooftop solar projects and trade of International Renewable Energy Certificate (IREC) under the RPS.
