Marubeni Corporation ("Marubeni") has received an order to supply 30 metro coaches for the C line of the Buenos Aires City Subway (Subterráneos de Buenos Aires Sociedad del Estado) in Argentina. The 5000-type metro coaches that were running on the Nagoya City Transportation Bureau Higashiyama Line will be renovated and supplied to Argentina after the newly-built electrical equipment and air braking system equipment have been installed. Marubeni will manage the entire contract, Osaka Sharyo Kogyo Ltd. will perform the renovations and new equipment installation, while Toyo Denki Seizo K.K. and Nabtesco Corporation will be responsible for the production of the new electrical and air control equipment respectively.

Marubeni has experience in renovating and supplying 131 used coaches of the Marunouchi Line, Tokyo Metro (old Teito Rapid Transit Public Corporation) for Buenos Aires Subway B Line and 78 used coaches of the Higashiyama Line, Nagoya, for Buenos Aires Subway C Line. Marubeni’s extensive experience in renovating and supplying used coaches as well as the quality of the project management know-how has been highly evaluated by their customers, resulting in this new order.

The renovated coaches to be delivered are being anticipated as a more comfortable means of transportation by Buenos Aires citizens.

As there are several railway investment projects undergoing now in Argentina besides reinforcing the Buenos Aires Subway fleet, Marubeni will continue to contribute to the infrastructure development of the country based on their extensive experience.
