Marubeni has been included in the FTSE4Good Global Index Series since the index was established in 2002. The FTSE4Good was developed and established by FTSE Russell, a subsidiary of the London Stock Exchange Group. In selecting the constituent companies, evaluators assess candidates based on criteria pertaining to environmental management, climate change, human and labor rights, supply chain labor standards, and anti-bribery measures.

The results of the FY 2014 Keidanren Corporate Internal Communications Awards were announced. The Marubeni Group communication website "MS+" won the highest award among all 233 entrants from the three categories of Newspaper/Magazine, Intranet, and Visual, combined.
The Keidanren Corporate Internal Communications Awards were established in 1966 with the aim of raising the quality of corporate internal communication publications by promoting activities which do a service to management and by recognizing and encouraging the daily efforts of editors.
The Marubeni Group communication magazine "M-SPIRIT" also took out the Award for Excellence in the Magazine/Newspaper category, resulting in the fifth consecutive year since 2010 that the Marubeni Group has been awarded the top prizes for both publications.
In November 2013, the Marubeni Human Resources Department won the “HR Award 2013” from “Japanese Human Resources Departments (one of the major website for HR-related persons),” an award of excellence in the Personnel Affairs category.
The “HR Award” was established with the purpose of promoting the enhancement of the levels of all companies and individuals that are involved in personnel affairs and human resources development in various areas and invigorating the entire field of human resources. It recognizes the human resources departments of companies and human resources-related companies that are active and striving ahead in areas that include personnel affairs, human resources development, and personnel management, along with recognizing services and books in this field. The year of 2013 marked the second year that awards were granted.
Marubeni's main efforts to assist employees who have the need for nursing care have been producing remarkable results, and such actions have been approved and commended, as they will provide a good example for the human resources departments of other companies now and in the future.
In 2011, Marubeni implemented a “Survey of Nursing Care Needs” targeting employees who were in their 40s and 50s. Following the results, the company has been expanding its support for nursing care, including the creation of a handbook for nursing care, regular individual consultations on nursing care, and the introduction of the SECOM Remote Monitoring for Seniors of SECOM CO., LTD.
Marubeni has won the top award in the Investor Relations Advertisement category at the 62nd 2013 Nikkei Advertising Awards for its Marubeni Spirit full-page advertisement published in the Nikkei newspaper on June 28. This is the first time that Marubeni has been recognized at the *Nikkei Advertising Awards for a corporate advertisement.
The winning advertisement used the motif of the Marubeni Spirit, a concept stipulated in the Global Challenge 2015 mid-term management plan which expresses the corporate culture and spirit of Marubeni Group members, and expressed the company's desire to achieve growth going forward.
Encouraged by this award, Marubeni will further promote its corporate communications and brand management activities.

Established in 1952, the Nikkei Advertising Awards are one of Japan's top advertising awards. The 62nd 2013 Nikkei Advertising Awards recognized the best advertisements that were featured in the Nikkei Newspaper's pages between October 1, 2012 and September 30, 2013 that meet the guidelines of contemporary advertising activities across several categories including the Nikkei Advertisement Award, Environmental Advertisement Award, Corporate Brand Advertisement Award and IR Advertisement Award.
On September 17, 2013, the Qatari Ministry of Energy and Industry held its third Sustainable Reporting Awards. In the category for organizations with less than 500 employees, Mesaieed Power Company Limited (MPCL), in which Marubeni is a lead developer and 30% investor in, received its second consecutive award for excellence in sustainability reporting.
The Awards evaluate the contributions toward sustainable growth in the energy and industry sector by looking at the sustainability reports produced by Qatari companies that are conducting business in the sector domestically. MPCL was evaluated for its environmental and safety practices as well as for its stable supply of electricity.
MPCL is located in the Mesaieed Industrial City in the country's southern region, and owns and operates a combined cycle power plant with a capacity of 2,000MW. The company conducts IPP business by selling electricity to Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation, the state-owned electricity and water company.
Two Chilean copper mines where Marubeni has a 30% equity holding have received the honor of winning a vast array awards for their efforts to introduce new technologies, raise environmental consciousness, and promote proactive safety measures.
In June 2013, Minera El Tesoro was awarded the “Carlos Vial Espantoso Award” from the Carlos Vial Espantoso Foundation, which is granted to companies in Chile which boast outstanding labor-management relations in Chile. In August 2013, the mine also received the “Benjamín Teplizky Lijavetzky Award” from the Chilean Ministry of Mining for its remarkable achievements regarding workplace safety and for its contribution to the sustainable growth of the country. The award is given in recognition of the company’s positive efforts toward safety and for efforts in implementing new technologies and raising environmental concerns. This was the third time for the company to win the award, following 2006 and 2011.
In addition, in 2011, Minera Esperanza received Award for the best mine in the large-scale category from the prestigious international association, the Sociedad Nacional de Mineía (SONAMI). The prize was given for the introduction of new technologies that will lead to the innovation development of the Chilean copper mining industry, including a mineral processing method using seawater and the world’s largest crushing machines. The Instituto de Ingenieros de Minas de Chile (IIMCh) also presented its “Raúl Sáez Prize” to the same mine in honor of the project’s tremendous contribution to mining industry technology.
