Apr.26 , 2010

Marubeni Corporation has concluded a Comprehensive Collaboration Agreement with Amurzerno, a major grains consolidator, and Fetexim, a Port Logistics Operator, to cooperate in the origination of East Russian grains, and to build a partnership in order to expand exports of grains from Far Eastern Russia.

Russia’s role in the worldwide grain market and its ability to export from its Far Eastern shore is growing due to the rising demand of grains in the East Asian market. Marubeni considers Eastern Russia as one of our key areas where we can expect potential growth in the near future, and we are committed to putting our resources in the area.

In 2009, we have concluded an import contract of fifty thousand tons of grains with Amurzerno, which is the largest contract ever realized for Japanese market. Now as a further step, we conclude an exclusive contract with Amurzerno to ensure a stable source of grains and build a partnership with Fetexim to realize a strategic logistic operation in Far Eastern Russia that will enable to supply cost-competitive grains.

In this agreement, we have also eyed the possibility of further exploring varieties of grains that suit the East Asian market, as well as of joint ventures including financing from Marubeni. Through these endeavors, we aim to expand the grain business in the East Asian market including Japan.
