Dec. 24. 2021
Marubeni Corporation

Marubeni Corporation (hereinafter “Marubeni”) has concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (hereinafter the “MOU”) with Mobileye Vision Technologies Ltd. (hereinafter “Mobileye”), an autonomous driving and driver assistance technologies company, and Moovit App Global Ltd. (hereinafter “Moovit”), a mobility-as-a-service (MaaS) solutions company, to grow mobility businesses utilizing Mobileye’s and Moovit’s services in Japan.

In recent years, Japan’s mobility market has been confronted with changes in such social conditions as the spread of electric vehicles for the purpose of decarbonization, the diversification of such mobility services as micromobility (*1), a declining birthrate and aging population, and an increase in inbound demand.

As such, new transportation services including multimodal services (*2) and on-demand transportation systems (*3) are becoming popular. Marubeni will closely work with Mobileye and Moovit to develop and provide new forms of mobility services in Japan.

Together with their sister company Moovit, Mobileye aims to lead the mobility revolution with autonomous driving solutions – collectively known as mobility-as-a-service (MaaS). The agreement with Marubeni will enable Mobileye and Moovit to address MaaS opportunities in Japan.

Marubeni aims to implement Mobileye’s and Moovit’s services in Japan by utilizing Marubeni’s know-how and network cultivated through the diversified business activities of the Marubeni Group. Through the MOU Marubeni will contribute to the realization of a safer and more secure society by reducing traffic accidents and traffic congestion and to the realization of an autonomous driving society as well.
