Marubeni and the government of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, UAE jointly founded the ‘General Trading House in Abu Dhabi’ in May, 2007. Its objectives are to create and promote business activities in three core areas - trade, investment and project development. The company is expected to increase its business operations and develop to be a real general trading house in future, along with conducting a study primarily on the commercial viability of various potential businesses which contribute to the promotion and development of industries within Abu Dhabi. These include oil-related business capitalizing on its vast oil reserves; import, export and processing and sale of construction materials which are expected to enjoy greater demand in future; iron, steel and aluminum products; food-related business; and the introduction of environmental technology.
